As mitigation for a large-scale development in Dublin, where a tree containing a bat roost cavity was to be removed, a tree roost translocation programme was implemented. Mitigation measures implemented by Eire Ecology to satisfy planning conditions included the application of a derogation licence from the NPWS, the translocation of a roost and five other potential roost features (prf’s) to suitable trees within the site and additional planting to buffer the treeline from the proposed development while a lighting plan has been tailored to ensure effects on wildlife is minimised.
