Design Concept
The cavity-chambered rocket roost combines two roosting strategies within a single structure.
The upper section incorporates a spacious cavity intended to provide a sheltered clustering area for cavity-roosting species. Below this, the proven double-chamber rocket box design provides additional roosting space and a range of thermal conditions.
The design allows bats to move freely between the cavity and crevice-style chambers, enabling individuals to select preferred conditions throughout the day and across changing seasons.
Typical Species
The cavity-chambered design has been developed primarily for:
- Brown Long-eared Bat (Plecotus auritus)
- Leisler’s Bat (Nyctalus leisleri)
- Daubenton’s Bat (Myotis daubentonii)
The lower chamber system may also provide secondary roosting opportunities for other species where local conditions are suitable.
